Yesterday (2019) **

Source: Imdb
This supposed feel-good flick was actually just as disappointing as I expected it to be. I only went to see this movie about a guy waking up in a world that has forgotten the Beatles, and subsequently growing rich with their music, because it had good reviews. So I thought maybe there is more to it than the trailer implies. Spoiler: there is not. This is exactly as boring and unoriginal as it sounds. The acting is lack-lustre and the plot is dumb and predictable. Also, they have a terrible sense of humour. Trying to get laughs out of constant interruptions is just annoying as hell and makes me feel aggressive and frustrated instead of making me want to laugh. There were a few good jokes in there, too, but those seemed almost unintentional. The only two good things were the singing – this Patel guy actually has a great voice and is very skilled – and the Ed Sheeran cameos. Ed’s acting is waaay better than it was in GoT and his involvement in the story is actually rather hilarious. Still: in a few years, the pop culture references will probably not fly at all and this film will be a worthless piece of movie history. 2/5 for being unoriginal and frustrating.

PS: I guess this experience confirms that I am absolutely NOT a Danny Boyle fan.
