This drama about the struggle for gender
equality was not quite as engaging as I expected. Though everyone’s acting was
great, the script needed some serious tightening-up. This just felt too long
and did not use the material to build tension in the way it could have. I
expected a nail-biting finish, at least, but it was all kind of lukewarm. The
production was good, though. Lovely colour palette and flawless period
wardrobes over 3 decades. Well done for the visuals with clean and simple
pictures. They did have a few matte paintings that looked fake, but this movie
was not about that, so it didn’t really matter apart from jarring me for a few moments.
So, 3/5 for
effort, but would not re-watch.
