Goodbye Christopher Robin (2017) ***

Source: Imdb
For some reason I was under the misconception that Ewan McGregor was in this touching biographical piece about the creation of Winnie the Pooh. Spoiler: he wasn’t. Instead, Will Tilston and Domhnal Gleeson gave adequate performances as Christopher Robin and his father, AA Milne. However, I found Margot Robbie’s Daphne Milne rather grating. Luckily, Kelly Macdonald’s excellent performance as nanny balanced it out a bit.
The script did not strike me as particularly memorable, but I did like how they handled PTSD and the trauma that comes with being a child celebrity. However, the cinematography was beautiful. The romantic visuals of British country life and its breathtaking, awe-inspiring nature reminded me again why I chose to live in the UK and what made me fall in love with it. The film did a great job reminding me of that feeling. Also, the editing was really good and came up with some great transitions, particularly at the beginning of the film, even though the pacing was a bit slow at times. The score did not leave any kind of impression.
All in all, an unremarkable 3/5.
